#2 Unbound Time

So basically what i am doing since 27th  september. Other than researching/planning:

1)X FILES

binge watching X files season 1. Yes I am watching a 27 year show rn rather than GOT or B Bad or whatever is the new fad.  I like the concept of X files much more than these big budget behemoths.

So the titular " X files" is a department of the FBI which looks into paranormal deaths, alien abductions, cryptids, and all conceivable conspiracies n quackeries. The upper echleons of govt actively tries hides to hide stuff while the lower staff considers the dept to be a waste of tax payer's money. Our male lead Fox Mulder is assigned to X files because even though he is a good agent, he is obssessed with paranormal phenomena, acts like a nutcase and insists that his sister was kidnapped and taken away by aliens when he was a kid, all these things obviously dont sit right with his superiors. In the first episode, he is joined by (actually sent by the bosses to spy on him) Dana Scully, top of the class graduate from the academy, medical expert, and a firm believer in "science and logic is supreme". So as expected, they disagree on things but this legendary team up made the show super successful and a household name. EVERY show has some time or other thrown a reference to this iconic duo.

The show stands on three pillars-
{1}Scully and Mulder's interactions,
{2} the overarching storyline- that somehow all these seemingly isolated incidences are connected or related and
{3}the new individual creatures/things in every episode

{Fox Mulder and Dana Scully working on a case}

The formula is not perfect, (2) doesnt start until a long long time, (3) isnt always scary but you will keep watching for (1) and there are ups and downs but the ride is one in a million. Season 1 has got me hooked. I also think if you are into geeky stuff this show is perfect. Dialogue is brilliantly written and there's humour too. The fog, forests, sultry, dark background keeps the feels chillly, cases are solved but in most episodes it boils down to your beliefs-the show kinds on double downs on "actual TRUTH" is unreachable and what matters is what version you choose to believe in. The show's tagline is :

Slowly there are arcs, recurring characters and character development. But the intrigue and shadowy feels is constant. In many episodes, there's also rejection, despair and indifference- the govt seizes evidence, wipes memory, and forcefully closes down files- what can a single man (and his partner) uncover alone and how far will he go to prove his point when nobody is ready to believe him. The X files is chasing UFOs, catching monsters, going after black magic, secret societies and invisible murderers. It is Dana& Fox' constant struggle to make sense of things in their own conflicting views and yet try and solve the unsolvable. It is the conflict between "secrecy for national security" and "how many deaths to keep a secret". In its own way, X Files tries to present a view on "Truth" and what it means and if it means something, does it even matter in the end?

9.5/10 after watching season one. A bit slow and non dramatic though, you have been warned!

2) Watching SouthPark.

No comments on this. TOTALLY KICKASS. Full of profanity and taboo stuff, yet the 4 eight year olds are more relevant than lots of documentaries. Very good satire on things normally ignored upon. Ultra level funny. Cartman is my personal favourite (no not for hating jews). Everyone should watch it once in a while. Keeps madness at bay. Also, OMG THEY KILLED KENNY . THOSE BASTARDS!

3) HALO: Combat Evolved.

Yes i get it. This too is 20 years old. So what? This is a timeless masterpiece (and only takes up about 1.5 GB xD) which  revolutionized FPS gaming with its dynamic non linear gameplay design and absolutely kickass music that starts playing at exactly the right moment. UNLIKE your Call Of Duty XLVII: America supreme with 150 GB of carpet bombing starving Africans on a 15 gazillion dollars with a stealth plane and a guitar sequence,
Witness UNSC crafting a enduring resistance to fight for mother earth against the Genocidal Maniacs Covenants on installation 04.

Master Chief+ Cortana>>>> Capt 70 yr old $ of COD. (i guess i will post a long entry about the HALO plot too- the story is probably the best humanity vs invaders stories).

So awesome, probably even better than all the newer Modern Warfare games. Nostalgia gaming= best gaming..

And my god the music:
